Tacx Alpine handles the half of indoor riding that a trainer cannot: the front of the bike. It raises and lowers the front wheel in step with the gradient your training app is sending, simulating climbs to 25% and descents to -10%, and it steers, feeding a steering angle back to the app.
Incline accuracy is quoted at 0.1% and the unit changes gradient at about 3% per second on a bike with a 1000 mm wheelbase, so rolling terrain arrives at something like the rate it would outdoors. Control comes from a paired Tacx NEO 2T or NEO 3M trainer over ANT+ or Bluetooth.
Adapters are included for quick release 9×100 and thru axle 12×100, and the unit suits road, gravel and mountain bikes. At 10.9 kg it is heavy enough to stay put and small enough at 475 x 316 mm to leave in place between sessions.
